the visionary

I'm Jess, the creator behind Das Beige. To get into the depths of how it began would take a while, but I’ll do my best to share the essence of it all!

I’ve always been super resourceful and interested in sustainability. Much of my childhood was spent crafting with my Macedonian grandmother; my Baba. She taught me how to sew and inspired me with her creations. I watched her make beautiful quilts out of fabric from used curtains, sheets and clothing. Since then, I have loved transforming old things into new treasures. 


Before evolving into a brand, Das Beige was simply a vibe, a shared culture and inside joke that originated among friends living in Australia. My friend and I spent 16 months traveling the East Coast. At that point in our lives, our goal was to attend as many “bush doofs” (music & art festivals in the forest) as we could, and have the most amount of fun possible! We hitch hiked over 3,000 kilometers with all of our luggage plus an extra suitcase packed with thrifted clothing, fabrics and art supplies to create our own unique outfits for these events.

These Aussie doofs were pure magic! While surrounded by the extremely neutral toned beige Australian landscape, we were also surrounded by so much vibrancy; the most amazing and eclectic music, art and people. We became obsessed with this contrast and have been basking in the beigeness ever since. The name itself, Das Beige embodies this playful irony. Clothing that is so colourful and full of life, everything but bland and beige.

Living in Australia was transformative. It was during this time that I fully embraced my creativity, discovered the power of play, and reconnected with my inner child. This experience ignited a dream of one day creating a sustainable, fun fashion brand that reflected those values.

Das Beige is my ever-evolving passion project. The overall style is a blend of Australian festival fashion, vintage streetwear from my home city of Toronto, with a tropical twist inspired by my love for the beach and years spent living in Tulum, Mexico.

Each and every piece is one of a kind. Das Beige is dreamy fashion for the soul designed to elevate your vibe. My goal is for you to feel beautiful, confident, playful, and uniquely you. To embody joy and have fun.

our vision & process behind each piece

  • Sustainability

    In a world of fast fashion and waste, sustainability is not about perfection, it's about intention. We choose to create one-of-a-kind, handmade pieces that are built to last. Mass-produced clothing often harms both people and the planet, so we focus on quality over quantity.

  • Fabric Selection

    Every Das Beige piece begins with 100% cotton or natural fibers. Not only are natural fabrics best for dyeing and painting…they’re also believed to carry a higher, more harmonious vibrational frequency than synthetics. Basically, they bring good vibes and we love that. 

  • Upcycling

    For pieces like oversized button-ups or anything denim, we go full vintage. These are 100% upcycled and hand-sourced. We comb thrift shops to find high-quality, natural fiber pieces.

  • Quality

    Here's the thing: secondhand is not just for sustainability, it often means better quality. If a piece has already survived years of wear and washes and still holds up looking good at the thrift, it’s proven itself. We trust it. We stand by it.

  • Sourcing

    While we are all about upcycling, there are certain items like track suits, bucket hats, and T-shirts that come from a trusted supplier. This is to ensure consistent sizing and feel.

  • Customization

    All of the customization; dyeing, painting, sewing, tagging, is done entirely by us, made to order, just for you. No mass production, truly one of a kind.
